With aging and design weaknesses, oilfield pipelines can experience failure and disruption to the oil production.  Costs of such failures can be critical and in this instance the North Sea operator took the decision to engage DDM Services to design new pipe assemblies and propose a redesign of the overall routing.  Oilfield decommissioning legislation is important for the operator and is considered at all stages of development.  With the installation of the new pipeline a wet store was created for the retired plant and DDM Services modeled the old pipeline in this wet store for recovery at a later date.
